The Glass House has a floor area of 30 m2 and all the walls are made of glass. All the associations and cultural activities are welcome to use one week each in the Glass House in the centre of the city. This includes organizations, municipalities and associations and clubs in the region, other European Capitals of Culture, as well as Umeå's sister cities. Each week's host is free to determine what will be presented during the week in the Glass House.

Work with the program and the schedule of activities in the house is an ongoing process.

Some of the sound and video equipment in the Glass House have been sponsored by the firm Mindspace Group AB in Umeå.
